Humanities Podcast Network: Welcome to the June issue of the HPN newsletter.

HPN SYMPOSIUM 2026 – Call for Papers!

We are delighted to announce this year’s Humanities Podcast Network Symposium 2026!

The Symposium organizing committee members Kath Burton (Chair), Mary Ellen Kubit, and Tyler Welch have released a CFP and are now taking proposals for individual and panel presentations.

This year’s theme is “What to do now?”: Humanities Podcasting Agency and Avowal.

We invite proposals from humanities podcasters, scholars, students, independent producers, audio professionals, and anyone whose work seeks to bring rigorous, humane thinking to a public audience.

We are especially keen to hear from practitioners who have navigated the tensions between institutional constraint and creative freedom; from technical and production teams working inside scholarly environments; and from professionals in adjacent fields — journalism, education, community organizing, archiving, sound design — whose practices speak to this moment.

Call for Interest: CHC Workshop

The HPN is in early stages of planning a forthcoming podcasting workshop with the Center for Humanities Communication.

While an exact date and time are not yet determined (it will take place sometime prior to July 1), we would love to hear from you if you are interested in helping to lead the workshop! This is expected to be a paid opportunity.

Thank you, Rebecca!

The HPN team would like to extend a huge thank you to Rebecca Barry as she steps down from HPN activities later this month.

Since graduating from the University of Virginia three years ago, Rebecca has been an integral part of the team, playing a leading role in organising the 2023 Symposium, contributing to the Palgrave Handbook, and helping to drive both the website and newsletter working groups.

Her insight, enthusiasm, and sense of fun have made a lasting impact on everyone involved with HPN. Beyond her many contributions, Rebecca has become a valued friend to so many across the network.

She will be greatly missed from the meetings, but we look forward to staying in touch.
