Celebrating an outstanding HPN Symposium 2025—Podcasting & Power

This year’s event—the 5th Annual HPN Symposium—was our most global gathering yet! “Podcasting and Power” attracted hundreds of attendees from 21 countries and 31 US states, and featured two days’ worth of panels discussing everything from disability studies and politics to punk spirit and joy.

If you missed out this year, or want to revisit some of your favorite moments, check out the HPN YouTube channel, where in coming weeks you will be able to find all of this year’s Symposium recordings available for free.

Congratulations to this year’s HPN Symposium Committee!

Ethical Podcasting Practices

Contact: Alison Innes
ainnes@brocku.ca

Rapid technological changes have made it easier than ever to create podcasts. Technical how-to information is easily found online, but podcasters wishing to practice their craft in an ethical, caring, and responsible way are often left to handle complex situations on their own. Interested podcast creators, listeners, and academic experts are invited to join a working group to develop best practice guidelines for ethical podcasting.

AI in Podcasting

Contact: Wesley Livesay
wesley.livesay@outlook.com

Generative AI is being marketed as powerful a powerful tool to assist in content production, including podcasts. What are their current and future capabilities? What are the ethical considerations of Generative LLMs whether for writing scripts, creating promotional materials, or even for generating full podcasts with AI voices? Where do they fit in the Humanities Podcasters toolbox? Join the new Working Group to help us to determine what the future of AI in Humanities podcasting can and should be.
