Thank You for a Fantastic 2024!

We here at the HPN want to say thank you for taking part in what has been one of our busiest, most accomplished years yet. We are are proud to be a stronger team and presence than ever heading into our fifth year!

Read on below for highlights from the past year:

“Best Practices”: The 4th Annual HPN Symposium

This year’s Symposium saw 338 podcasters register from over a dozen countries.

Fifteen panels taking place Nov. 8-9 welcomed 60+ speakers and featured voices from universities, nonprofit organizations, and independent podcasters.

All of this year’s sessions are now available for viewing on our YouTube Channel!

Congratulations to Symposium Committee members Rebecca Barry, Dan Dissinger, Mary Ellen Kubit, Nick Montgomery, and Kim Fox.

Thank you to all of the organizations who took part in this year’s Symposium!

Work in Progress: The Palgrave Handbook of Humanities Podcasting

Last year, HPN put out a call for chapter submissions to an ambitious edited collection—now underway as the Palgrave Handbook of Humanities Podcasting!

60 chapter proposals were chosen from more than 200 submissions, and drafts are now being edited in preparation for this 20-part handbook. Contributors will also take part in roundtable conversations to become an accompanying podcast, with the release of both book and podcast episodes expected in 2026.

Please join us in congratulating Handbook editors Milan Terlunen, Kim Adams, Saronik Bosu, and Beth Kramer for their monumental efforts to make this wonderful project a reality!

Pedagogy Corner: UCSB Podcasting Workshop

On Friday February 28th, four members of the HPN will continue the February tradition of hosting a 3-hour virtual workshop for students at UC-Santa Barbara’s Interdisciplinary Humanities Center.

This year’s presenters—Kim Adams, Sebastian Garcia, Mary Ellen Kubit, and Dan Dissinger—will speak to attendees about everything from interviewing and recording, to editing and growing your podcast audience.

We are delighted to say that one year in, the relationship between the HPN and UCSB is still going strong!
